Spin the wheel to decide what to eat

What Is the What to Eat Wheel?

The What to Eat Wheel is a free online food decision tool that picks your meal at random by spinning an animated wheel. When nobody can agree on dinner β€” or you just have decision fatigue β€” you load a list of foods, click Spin to Eat, and the wheel lands on one at random. Every option occupies an equal segment, so each food has exactly the same chance of being chosen. No debating, no "I don't know, what do you want?"

It comes with seven one-click presets so you can start immediately: Dinner, Breakfast, Lunch, Fast Food, Healthy, Desserts, and Cuisine. Prefer your own menu? Add up to 30 foods or restaurants, or paste a whole list, then spin. It's a full animated SVG wheel with a smooth ease-out spin, and it runs entirely in your browser β€” nothing is stored or sent anywhere.

How to Use the What to Eat Wheel

  1. Pick a preset or add foods: Click a preset chip β€” Dinner, Breakfast, Lunch, Fast Food, Healthy, Desserts, or Cuisine β€” to load it instantly. Or type your own food and press Enter, or paste a comma/newline-separated list. Up to 30 foods.
  2. Spin to eat: Click Spin to Eat or the center hub. The wheel spins with an ease-out deceleration and stops with one food under the pointer.
  3. See what you're eating: The chosen food appears in the result card. Click Copy to save it to your clipboard.

How the Random Food Pick Works

  • Pre-selected winner: The winning food is chosen using Math.random() the moment you click Spin. The wheel then decelerates to land on that segment β€” the spin is visual, the outcome is already fair.
  • Equal probability: Every food has an identical chance regardless of name length or position on the wheel. There are no weighted slots.
  • Client-side only: All randomization and rendering happens in your browser. No foods or results are sent to a server or stored anywhere.

When to Use a What to Eat Wheel

  • Choosing takeout: Load the Fast Food preset or add your local spots and spin to pick where to order from.
  • Meal planning: Spin a few times to build a varied weekly menu, then turn the results into a shopping list β€” pair it with our random meal generator for more ideas.
  • Eating healthier: Load the Healthy preset so every option keeps you on track no matter where the wheel lands.
  • Trying something new:Load Cuisine and let the wheel push you toward a kitchen you don't cook from often, then find a random recipe to match.
  • Couples & roommates:Settle "you pick" / "no, you pick" fairly with a single spin.
